'Breaking Bad' Movie From Creator Vince Gilligan In The Works

Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad ended its five-season and 62-episode run on AMC back in 2013.

Are you excited about the forthcoming Breaking Bad movie? Such is the case with Better Call Saul, a spin-off prequel that predates the events of Breaking Bad by six years. Earlier today, it was reported that the film would take place after the series finale, "Felina" and would follow Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) after he is freed by Walter White (Bryan Cranston).

As THR reports, Gilligan will begin writing the script, and there's word that he may act as one of the film's executive producers and the film's director.

Gilligan will write, produce and likely direct the project, which is set to begin production in New Mexico later this month.

According to The Albuquerque Journal - relaying reports from the New Mexico Film Office - filming is scheduled to begin later this month on a Breaking Bad flick, which is now going under the possibly temporary name of "Greenbrier".

Details on the Breaking Bad movie, which has been floating around the industry with a possible fake/working title of Greenbrier, are slim.

"Breaking Bad" is the story of Walter H. White, played by Bryan Cranston, a struggling high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with advanced lung cancer at the beginning of the series. Cranston addressed that topic on The Dan Patrick Show, telling the former sportscaster that he's unsure if he'll reprise his role in the future.

The projected feature film will be around two hours, though it remains unclear whether it will make its first appearance on TV or the big screen. Let us know your thoughts down below! The cast of Breaking Bad reunited at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate the show's tenth anniversary. Bob Odenkirk says "I don't think so", but maybe Walter White knows something Saul Goodman doesn't?

A project by the name of Greenbriar - possibly a code name - is set to star production in mid-November in Albuquerque, according to the New Mexico Film Office.

While no one involved with the Breaking Bad movie has confirmed or denied that Greenbrier is the actual film, the logline about a man forging a new path after being held hostage sounds like it could connect to the fate Paul's Jesse faced at the end of Breaking Bad.

For now, then, we'll have to wait and see what this becomes. Walt had his time in the sun, and wisely hasn't been the centerpiece of Better Call Saul's later seasons.
