Dez Bryant injury: WR suffers apparent Achilles tear at practice

Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, was optimistic about joining the Saints after experiencing an acrimonious split with the Dallas Cowboys earlier this year.

But for the Saints, a maddening game of "what might have been" is the order of the day. With Ted Ginn Jr. and Cameron Meredith on injured reserve, New Orleans made the bold move to add the former Oklahoma State product.

If it is indeed a torn Achilles then Bryant's season is over and possibly his career.

He is getting an MRI and the club is awaiting more information. And as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported shortly after the injury news, it seems the Saints may already be working on a contingency plan in the former of another wideout.

It looks like disaster has struck for Dez Bryant.

After being cut by the Cowboys in April, Bryant turned down multiple offers from other National Football League teams, before the Saints starting courting him earlier this week.

Even though this is devastating for the veteran wide receiver, New Orleans still has Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara to shoulder the load on offense.
