Florida Teenager Charged With Strangling, Burying Mother

Two 17-year-olds who Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said helped the boy hide the crime were released Sunday into home detention, where they'll wear ankle monitors.

A 15-year-old boy in Florida confessed to killing his Mom and then burying her body near a church.

There are reports that the boy strangled his Mom after a fight about his grades.

"To watch how cold and callous and calculating he was, I think was probably the most shocking thing for all of us", Chitwood said.

In his police confession, Ramos told how he had argued with his mother on Thursday evening after getting a D grade at school. That's when authorities said he proceeded to strangle her again, this time killing her.

Gregory Logan Ramos had told police he came home from school to a ransacked home- his mom missing, and her van still running in the driveway.

"You'd have thought he was going on national television", Chitwood said.

"He went into her room and woke her up and began strangling her and strangled her till he killed her, ' Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood said, added that the motive was "rage".

"There was no sign of remorse whatsoever". According to Chitwood, the suspect then returned home with his mother's body, had two friends help bury the victim, and staged a burglary scene by hiding electronics and other items. He'd later tell authorities he deserved a Grammy for the "way he performed for the 911 call", Chitwood said. "Very proud of what he did".

Ramos went to school the next morning and came home early.

At first he drove to Daytona's Holly Hill area to dump her corpse but headed back to find a shovel before heading to the church.

Though the boy said he wanted to be a homicide detective one day, Pagliari said: "At the end of the day, I'm standing here, and he's where he belongs". All our hearts break for this family, ' he added on Twitter. Detectives said they recovered Cleavenger's body at the church early Saturday morning.

But deputies who arrived at the scene were suspicious of Ramos' demeanor and allegedly got him to confess to the crime during an interrogation.
