Trump Jr. Attacks CNN For Not Airing Racist Ad — CNN Fires Back

Meanwhile, NBC is under fire for airing a racist political ad paid for by President Donald Trump's campaign during its broadcast of Sunday Night Football.

The campaign spot focuses on Luis Bracamontes, an undocumented immigrant who was convicted of killing two sheriff's deputies in California in 2014.

"After further review we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have made a decision to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible", a spokesman for NBC said in a statement.

The ad paints a doomsday scenario in which an "invasion" of few thousand Central America asylum seekers - many of them women and children traveling in a series of caravans - supposedly posed a dire threat to American democracy.

CNN had previously determined that the Trump campaign's advertisement was racist and declined to sell airtime for it.

The ad is Trump's latest effort to rouse fear about the migrant caravan in the days ahead of the midterm elections.

NBC said Monday that in its review, it recognizes the insensitive nature of the ad.

"After further review we recognize the insensitive nature of the ad and have made a decision to cease airing it across our properties as soon as possible", said an NBC spokesman, Joe Benarroch.

Mr Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted that NBC News, CNN and Facebook had chosen "to stand with those ILLEGALLY IN THIS COUNTRY".

"The #FakeNewsMedia and #PaloAltoMafia are trying to control what you see and how you think", he said, an apparent reference to Facebook's Silicon Valley headquarters. Parscale didn't mention Fox News.

On Saturday, Donald Trump Jr. blasted CNN for refusing to run the ad, which prompted the network to respond on Twitter, saying it was "abundantly clear" the ad was racist.

Before the ad aired, Trump had blamed Democrats for the 7,000-strong caravan. Under its rules, ads must not contain shocking, sensational, disrespectful or excessively violent content.

Facebook, too, announced Monday that the ad could not be a paid ad on the site, though users can still post it themselves.
