He particularly pointed out at the government backing Vijay when his film "Mersal" ran into trouble with the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) ahead of its release past year. He took it on his official Twitter handle and wrote that "When the censor board has cleared the film, holding protests and demanding for removal scenes is against the law".

Scenes showing people burning freebies like mixers and grinders had been removed.

Tamil Nadu politics turned ugly on Thursday night after a sensational tweet by Sun Pictures, the makers of controversial film Sarkar, said that cops had arrived at the residence of film director AR Murugadoss to arrest him.

Earlier in the day, Tamil "Superstar" Rajinikanth threw his weight behind Vijay, questioning the AIADMK's rationale in protesting against a film certified by the censor board.

However, recently in an interview, TTV Dhinakaran revealed that Komalavalli is not the birth name of Jayalalithaa. "So the issue has come to an end".

The makers of "Sarkar" had agreed to remove "objectionable" scenes and "mute" an apparent reference to the late J Jayalalithaa, an industry body said on Thursday, as the movie faced a backlash from the ruling AIADMK over depiction of its welfare schemes and its leader.

"The new Sarkar won't be one that hurts sentiments".

The second scene that will be edited from the movie is the director AR Murugadoss' cameo. He said the party's opposition had nothing to do with criticism of the government.

'Sarkar, ' produced by Sun Pictures, stars Vijay and Keerthi Suresh in key roles, and was released on November 6.
