Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee died Monday.

Lee passed away November 12, 2018, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Stan Lee-the Marvel Comics legend responsible for cultural icons from Spider-Man and Iron Man to X-Men and Black Panther-has died according to multiple reports from places like TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter.

Through his own work and frequent collaborations with Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, and other artists, Lee turned Marvel from a small business into one of the world's largest comic book and multimedia ventures.

Marvel actors, writers, and fans flooded social media with well wishes and fond remembrances shortly after the news of his death broke.

"I think everybody loves things that are bigger than life".

Lee revolutionised comics by introducing human frailties in superheroes such as Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk.

Known to film his scenes far in advance, in case he was indisposed, it is not yet known what his final cinematic appearance might be but hopes are high that he may turn up in both Captain Marvel and the fourth Avengers movie - both due out next year.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Lee set his sights on Hollywood, and television shows based on Marvel characters began to populate the airwaves.

In 2000, Lee agreed to write stories for DC Comics, reinventing Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other signature characters for Marvel's one-time rival.

Lee is survived by his daughter, J.C. His wife of 69 years, Joan, died in 2017.
