In the UK, Xiaomi will also open a brick-and-mortar Mi Store in Westfield London on 18th November. The first batch of devices to get the stable China ROM update included Mi 6X, Mi 8 SE, Mi Mix 2, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 6 series etc.

The unbelievable promotion is part of a limited time "doorcrasher special" deal to mark Xiaomi's launch into the United Kingdom market. The update also restores portable hotspot to be turned off after saving new password.

The Pro costs £499 direct from Xiaomi while the Lite will start from £249.

The Mi 8 Lite will go on sale starting 10 November and it comes in either Aurora Blue and Midnight Black. However, the brand is now officially coming to the United Kingdom and will hook up with tech distributors like Amazon, Three, CPW and John Lewis - as well as opening a flagship Mi Store in Westfield London.

Just two weeks ago the Xiaomi's Mi Mix 3 was announced and the company's co-founder, Lei Jun, promised to deliver the phone's excellent camera software to its other two flagship phones - the Mi Mix 2S and the Mi 8 since they all rely on the same dual-camera setup.

This marks the first time the handset has been released outside of mainland China. It will use a 24 megapixel (MP) selfie camera and have rear 12MP + 5MP AI dual-cameras, all from Sony.

During the announcement, Xiaomi said there would be a "limited number" of people able to bag the £20 discount, however, it did not specify the exact numbers.

Xiaomi's entry into the United Kingdom follows its arrival in France and Italy this May, and the official entry last November into Spain, its first Western European market, where it had already become the third largest smartphone vendor. Globally Xiaomi is ranked 4 for smartphones, and with its European expansion plans gaining traction we can see it has plans and ambitions. As of today, Xiaomi is now sold in 74 markets worldwide.
