Photos shared on social media by Stelter and others show police investigating the alleged threat near the Time Warner Center complex, where CNN's NY head office is housed.

MSNBC anchor Brian Williams interviewed WNYC investigative reporter Jonathan Dienst for the latest.

The network's Don Lemon was hosting "CNN Tonight" when the threat came in about 10:07 p.m. EST.

Several fire alarm bells rang inside CNN's NY newsroom, signaling an evacuation after the call was received shortly before 10 p.m., the company's security said. "We're running taped programming". We grabbed what we could and got out of the building and now, we are standing outside of the building, ' Lemon said on CNN.

Fox News reported at 11:16 pm that, according to the NYPD, someone had phoned in that there were five bombs throughout the Time Warner Building, where CNN is housed.

Reacting to the threat, CNN's Chris Cuomo said that everyone was "fine" despite the evacuation.

One of those mail bombs was sent to the CNN office in NY.

Police tweeted that 25 Columbus Circle was evacuated, and that personnel swept the building and decided it was safe. It appears that tweet was made at around 10:08 p.m., which would make it after police said they received the 911 call.

"The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it's TRUE", he tweeted in August.

In October, Time Warner Center was evacuated after a package containing an explosive device addressed to ex-CIA Director John Brennan was discovered.
