Elizabeth Warren Takes A Major Step Toward 2020 Presidential Run

Elizabeth Warren Is Running for President in 2020

But almost two months after Ms. Warren released the test results and drew hostile reactions from prominent tribal leaders, the lingering cloud over her likely presidential campaign has only darkened. "Politicians look the other way while big insurance companies deny patients life-saving coverage, while big banks rip off consumers and while big oil companies destroy this planet". One of her most significant competitors could be Sen.

"Every person in America should be able to work hard, play by the same set of rules, & take care of themselves & the people they love", she said in a Twitter post. "We got a real opportunity to build something", Warren says.

Warren's work to establish and defend the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB, made her a star among progressives who first pushed for what would be a successful 2012 Senate run and then, with less luck, a presidential bid she ultimately passed up four years later. The formation of an exploratory committee simply means that she's testing the waters for a potential run. She and Trump clashed frequently through the 2016 presidential campaign and Trump has cast aspersions on her claim to Native American ancestry, referring to her as "Pocahontas".

Warren is expected to be among the more formidable candidates in a large field of Democrats, perhaps as many as two dozen.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., gives her victory speech at a Democratic election watch party in Boston on November 6, 2018.

It also suggested she had become too much of a "divisive figure", an apparent reference to the heavily publicized DNA test. Last year, Warren revealed the results of a DNA test that showed distant ancestry.

Dent echoes a well-regarded notion that Warren is a ideal foil for Trump and his anti-identity-politics-cum-identity-politics base.

Formerly a professor of law at Harvard, the MA senator is considered to be on the liberal wing of the Democrat Party.

"I can't tell you if it's a smart move or not but this is a total gift to President Trump", Dent proclaimed, adding "this is the candidate he clearly wants".
