The Red Devils are in dismal form right now, having drawn back-to-back league games against struggling duo Crystal Palace and Southampton after losing 3-1 in the Manchester derby. "We don't need to waste points where we don't need to waste".

"I don't know if I said [that] or if I didn't, but if I used that word it is not what I feel at all".

A disappointing 2-2 draw at Southampton on Saturday saw Manchester United lose more ground on their top four rivals and they are now eight points behind in race to finish in the Champions League spots.

I said my hopes and targets were by the end of December to be in that position [in the top four].

"I think far from a miracle, we just need to not be so unlucky with problem that we have, we need some players to perform better than they are, we need to perform better as a team - but far from a miracle".

Mourinho has said repeatedly he was expecting a hard campaign and revealed ahead of the meeting with the Gunners that he has been proved right because his was the only team in the top six that did not to improve over the summer.

Paul Pogba was very bad at the weekend, and with reports claiming Mourinho gave him a furious dressing down after the game, it looks likely that he will be dropped.

Now, a cynic may well suggest that Mourinho didn't respond to this question because he doesn't know the answer, but of course we are not going to suggest that. One of Rashford and Lukaku will presumably be fit enough to play upfront. "I can agree", he said, noting that Everton are above them in sixth. Or how? I don't play that game.

Paul Pogba has come in for a whole heap of criticism this season from both the Manchester United fans and his own manager. "It will take nearly a miracle to finish in the top four".

In comparison, Liverpool spent £167m, Chelsea £128m, Arsenal £68m and Manchester City £63m while Tottenham did not sign a single new player.
