The Accidental Prime Minister stars Akshaye Khanna as Sanjaya Baru, the narrator of the film. Anupam Kher as Manmohan Singh impresses with his body language.

The trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister that chronicles former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's tenure in office was released on 27 December.

Anupam Kher wrote on twitter, "Ladies and Gentlemen!" The movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on January 11. Anupam Kher also thanked to Akshay Khanna and wrote on Instagram, "Dear @akshaye_khanna! I tried to source out as much information as possible for my reference which would help me portray the character to the best of my abilities", the prolific actor adds.

The Accidental Prime Minister revolves around Manmohan Singh's life, the economist and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and is based on the book of the same name written by Sanjaya Baru, Singh's advisor.

Mumbai: Actor Anupam Kher, who is gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film 'The Accidental Prime Minister, ' has said that initially he didn't want to be a part of his forthcoming film as he thought that it will be a politically controversial film.

The youth wing has also noted that if there are any scenes which are factually incorrect and are maligning the Congress party and its leaders then it should be either edited or deleted from the movie.

German actor Suzanne Bernert plays the role of Sonia Gandhi, while Aahana Kumra is seen as Priyanka Gandhi. Her keenness to have son Rahul (Arjun Mathur) rise to the position of power is also an aspect shown in the trailer.
