"I talked for years about how there was no military solution in Afghanistan, and they called me "Taliban Khan".

Afghan forces on the ground are suffering their heaviest losses since the US-led invasion - but at least Americans on the other side of the globe are safe, says Dunford: "The presence that we have in Afghanistan has, in fact, disrupted the enemy's ability to reconstitute and pose a threat to us". No Pakistani was involved.

Asked why he "harboured anti-US sentiments", Khan said disagreeing with Washington's policies did not make him "anti-American".

"Ambassador Khalilzad stressed the United States' commitment to facilitating a political settlement between the Afghan government and the Taliban that ensures Afghanistan never again serves as a platform for global terrorism and ends the 40-years-long war in the country", noted the embassy statement.

Marine Corps Lt Genenral Kenneth McKenzie's remarks came days after US President Donald Trump sought Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's help in the Afghan peace process.

When asked about the "twitter war" with the United States president, PM Imran Khan said 'it was not really a Twitter war, it was just setting the record right.

"I do believe that any solution in Afghanistan is going to require the assistance of Pakistan".

On the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008, Khan said: "We also want something done about the bombers of Mumbai".

The diplomatic sources further said, "The letter will stress the need for improvement in trade and economic ties between the two countries".

"In the letter, the President recognises that Pakistan has the ability to deny the Taliban sanctuary on its territory", the spokesperson said.

He brought up Pakistan's relations with China as a positive example as opposed to "one-dimensional" relationship with Washington. He said peace in Afghanistan is in Pakistan's interest, so his government will do "everything" to help.

"You are aware that Afghan refugees have been living here [in Pakistan] for 40 years".

"If we go with the International Monetary Fund, we will make sure this is the last time", he promised, suggesting that "Pakistan has never made the structural changes that are needed. Already, we have investors coming into Pakistan", he said. "Now we have embarked on structural reforms". "This is in our own interest", said Stoltenberg.

On question of future of Pak-US ties, the prime minister noted: "I would never want to have a relationship where Pakistan is treated like a hired gun - given money to fight someone else's war".

"The ruling party [in India] has an anti-Muslim, anti-Pakistan approach", he pointed out. I had gone on television and warned everyone that we will stand by the Supreme Court verdict.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan gestures as he speaks during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kartarpur border corridor, which will officially open next year, in Pakistan November 28, 2018. He said he hopes that after the elections Pakistan can resume talks with India. "The head of the TLP then passed a death sentence on the Supreme Court judges and kept saying that they should be killed".
