Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Quotes 'Watchmen' on Twitter

As reported by The New York Daily News on Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez's campaign has been hit with a New York state fine for failing to carry workers' compensation coverage.

According to reports, the campaign was forced to pay a $1,500 fine for not providing the required insurance.

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reportedly is poised to be appointed to the House Financial Services Committee.

Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), a leader of the progressive caucus in the last Congress, said that while it's important to make sure that "everybody's carrying their load", he didn't know if 70 percent "would be the right number or not".

During this time, campaign staffers were not covered for injuries received on the job.

Last year Ocasio-Cortez was also mocked after she lamented the shuttering of a coffee shop in NY, which, it was revealed, closed its doors because of the wage hike in the state - a policy that she supports, causing 150 people to lose their jobs.

"You can have reasonable taxation, and then you can send signals that we're just going to go after people who have a few dollars", he said.

Strikingly, the scene from the comic book series from which the quote is taken occurs in a prison cafeteria-a potentially provocative, though perhaps fluid, metaphor for what Congress has become to many lawmakers.

The top marginal tax rate in the United States was above 90 percent in much of the 1950s and early 1960s, and the rate was 70 percent as recently as 1980.That year, the 70-percent rate applied to income over $215,400 for married couples.

"She needs to decide: Does she want to be an effective legislator or just continue being a Twitter star?" a House Democrat anonymously said. She still has not answered whether she will follow through with her own advice to fellow lawmakers to "have some integrity" and forgo her paychecks during the partial government shutdown.

"I think she looks mature and they look juvenile", Walsh said.

Ocasio-Cortez followers were there to applaud the tweet, supporting the idea of Lieberman and his views being out of date with even more jabs and memes. "It's not the same thing, at all", she said.
