Koreen Raptors fans should recognize the emotions felt by Spurs fans all too well as Kawhi Leonard returns

Yesterday's game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors was a battle to see which player would triumph over their former team.

Despite the toxic atmosphere at the AT&T Center, Leonard and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich were able to share a nice moment at the end of the game. Following the matchup in which Leonard struggled and the Spurs were able to come away with a convincing 125-107 victory, Popovich wasn't happy about the reception his former star player received.

Many months before the fractures that led to Leonard's departure from San Antonio began to surface, Popovich approached Pippen and asked him to speak to Leonard after a Spurs-Bulls game in Pippen's hometown of Chicago.

Popovich told reporters in late November he thought Leonard was a "great player, but he wasn't a leader or anything" during his seven seasons in San Antonio.

If not for the media, Leonard seems to think it wouldn't have gone that way.

SAN ANTONIO - DeMar DeRozan said going into Thursday night's Raptors-Spurs matchup that he had "wanted to break every single record that was there" for Toronto. 'Kawhi's a high-character guy. That possession was followed by Leonard being unable to corral an alley-oop pass, which led to DeRozan tossing in a runner and being fouled by Serge Ibaka.

Raptors: The Spurs played a tribute video for Leonard and Green prior to the game that ended with "Thank you Danny and Kawhi". We all make decisions in our lives with what we're going to do with our futures, and he has that same right as any of us. DeRozan made the free throw amid chants of "MVP!"

DeRozan is just the fifth player in National Basketball Association history to post a triple-double in his first game against a former team, according to research from Elias Sports Bureau. Green finished with no points on 0-for-7 shooting.
