The Browns are "seriously considering" giving interim head coach Gregg Williams the role full-time next season, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

Previously, Jackson won just one game in two seasons for the Browns, making him the NFL's least successful head coach.

Seeing as how Cleveland had just jour games from 2015 through 2017 combined, you would think the organization would jump at the opportunity to retain a coach who led the team to five wins over the course of seven weeks, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Cleveland Browns General Manager John Dorsey is reflecting on what the Browns have accomplished this year and where they need to go in 2019. Will Gregg Williams be given the permanent job? The Browns are planning on interviewing a variety of candidates, as they have requested permission to interview multiple assistants.

The Cleveland Browns have reached out to Mike McCarthy about their head-coaching vacancy, Postmedia has learned on Sunday.

Dorsey has contacted as many as eight candidates for the role, with Browns coordinator Freddie Kitchens also set to be interviewed.

Dorsey says quarterback Baker Mayfield is obviously an important part of the team, but he won't take part in any interviews.

"We're 7-8-1, that's an accomplishment where we come from but our goal is to be competitive", Dorsey said.

Coming in with a 2018 season grade of 79.0, Denzel Ward gave fans another reason to get excited about the Browns.
