Gary Kubiak will not be Broncos offensive coordinator, sources say

New Broncos head coach Vic Fangio surprised the National Football League world by deciding not to hire Gary Kubiak as his offensive coordinator, and now Kubiak is looking for work elsewhere.

The Broncos will need a new offensive coordinator for Vic Fangio's staff after all. Kubiak is still listed as a senior personnel advisor on the Broncos' website, but it seems likely that he will leave the team to return to coaching. Kubiak was considered a top candidate for the job, but the Falcons hired Dirk Koetter on Tuesday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are among the team's that have interest in Kubiak, who is drawing "plenty of interest", according to Schefter.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, after lengthy discussions, the Broncos and Kubiak have made a decision to go in different directions due to disagreements regarding staffing and offensive philosophy. At the time, Schefter reported that the Broncos wanted Kubiak to work with their next coach and that Kubiak wanted to remain in Denver. But Kubiak apparently feels that he's up to the task of being an offensive coordinator again, as he previously was in both Denver and Baltimore.

"If Gary is interested, then I'm interested", Fangio said at his introductory press conference on Thursday, per The Athletic's Nicki Jhabvala‏.
