Missing teen whose parents were shot is found alive, suspect in custody

Missing 13-year-old Jayme Closs, who was kidnapped after her parents were found murdered in their Wisconsin home, has been found alive, police say.

The department thanks the Douglas Co Sheriff's Department and agencies assisting them.

She was found in Douglas County, Wisconsin, and a suspect was taken into custody shortly after she was found.

A suspect has been taken into custody in regards to the case, according to the Barron County Sheriff.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald at a news conference when Jayme Closs disappeared. Investigators said Closs was quickly ruled out as a suspect. "We do believe Jayme was home at the time the call was made".

WCCO-TV's Mary McGuire spoke to Jayme's aunt Sue on Thursday evening, who said her niece was now in the hospital.

A 911 call was made from Denise Closs' cellphone at about 1 a.m. on October 15, with garbled, inaudible audio.

The sheriff's statement said that its department "could not have endured this case without the support of the public and I want to thank them for all the support and help".

Jayme Closs will be reunited with family members Thursday night, police said. "We are also hopeful for the safe return of their daughter, Jayme, and are keeping her and the Closs family in our thoughts".

Fitzgerald said in November that he kept similar cases in the back of his mind as he worked to find Jayme, including the abduction of Elizabeth Smart, who was taken from her Salt Lake City home in 2002, when she was 14 years old.

Jayme Closs, 13, who had been missing for months since her parents were shot to death in their home, has been located, authorities say.

Jayme Closs has been missing since her parents - James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46 - were found fatally shot in their home on October 15. "From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!"

"I was at the right place at the right time", she said.

The bodies of Jayme's parents, James and Denise Closs, were discovered October 15 after a mysterious 911 call led deputies to their home in northwestern Wisconsin.

There were days when it was hard to hold onto hope, he said. "I've always been a glass-half-full kind of guy".
