Leonard Ellerbe: Mayweather will attend Pacquiao vs Broner

Manny Pacquiao challenges Floyd Mayweather to... a game of one-on-one hoops

Manny Pacquiao challenges Floyd Mayweather to... a game of one-on-one hoops

One man who was not impressed with Mayweather crushing the boxing novice was Pacquiao, 40, who defends his WBA "regular" welterweight title against Adrien Broner, 29, on January 19.

A week from Saturday, Pacquiao will fight in his first pay-per-view fight since facing Jessie Vargas in a Top Rank-produced PPV that generated a measly 300,000 buys.

Reason why, according to Fernandez, he and Pacquiao worked on several lethal combinations to be used against Broner in their camps in General Santos City and will unravel them on fight night.

However, the 40-year-old has clearly seen better days and just four of his 69 bouts have come since a crushing loss to Floyd Mayweather in May 2015.

"Against Matthysse, Pacquiao's legs seem to be there a little bit, but I don't know, so that's the question of the fight", said Malignaggi. "And, you know, I'm focused on getting this victory and I'm gonna go to the drawing board with my team - Stephen Espinoza and Al Haymon - and we gonna make bigger moves".

Rumours suggest 50-0-0 TBE is sizing up another comeback and Betfair traders offer prices on him settling an old score with Manny Pacquiao in a rematch.

Mayweather has teased the fans and Pacquiao with the possibility of rematch on Instagram but insisted after his first round KO of Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan on December 31st that he wasn't interested in boxing again. He's ready. He's focused.

This represents possibly his last chance to get back to elite level and fulfil his undoubtedly huge potential, though, so we're hoping he gets down to business and comes out all guns blazing.

There were a few concerns earlier that Roach would regain his old post as the lone voice in the corner but Pacquiao guaranteed him that Roach would take the sidelines so he can prove that his previous stint was not a fluke. If his weight's good - which it looks to be, it should be no problem - he might shake out maybe one more day in Vegas just to get the cobwebs out. "I told him when we were alone, I want him to become president", Duterte said in 2017. "If I'm Floyd, I wouldn't do that", said the Filipino, who teased Mayweather with a Tweet immediately after the one-sided fight, suggesting he should be fighting somebody his own size. It will be interesting to see how many PPVs this generates, with Showtime thrusting their full capabilities behind the fight thanks to their All Access show.

He spoke to reporters via global media call on Wednesday, saying he'll take care of his legal problems after the pay-per-view fight against Manny Pacquiao.

For his knockout win over Lucas Matthysse, Pacquiao said he only trained once the week of the actual fight, slowing down so that he had more strength on fight night. "He's just locked in on Manny Pacquiao". When asked if he would implement a similar schedule next week in Las Vegas now that he's back in the fold, Roach said he hasn't thought that far ahead.

Fernandez had his baptism of fire as chief trainer past year when Pacquiao overpowered Lucas Matthysse of Argentina to win the WBA 147-lb title in Malaysia when Hall of Famer Freddie Roach didn't get a call-up.
