Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a two-year lease on a home in the Great Tew area of the Cotswolds. She plans to visit one of the charities later Thursday, according to Kensington Palace.

The Queen has passed on two patronages, The National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities, and others have been created for her.

Caroline Yates, CEO of Mayhew, said, "We are so excited that HRH The Duchess of Sussex has chosen to be our Patron".

Along with her rumored rift with the Duchess of Cambridge, the "Suits" actress was also bothered by an article published by Vanity Fair that portrayed her as a social climber.

"The Duchess is delighted to become patron of both national and grassroots organisations that are part of the fabric of the United Kingdom, and is very much looking forward to working with them to bring wider public attention to their causes", Kensington Palace said in a statement. "Her Royal Highness feels she can use her position to focus attention on, and make a particular difference to these organizations and, more widely, the sectors they each represent".

The statement explained how Meghan feels she can "use her position to focus attention on, and make a particular difference to these organisations", revealing she has been having secret meetings with these organisations for the past year as they plan their work together.

Mayhew is an animal welfare charity which helps cats and dogs through community initiatives and veterinary care.

"The Duchess is delighted to become Patron of both national and grassroots organisations that are part of the fabric of the United Kingdom, and is very much looking forward to working with them to bring wider public attention to their causes", Kensington Palace said in a statement.

The Duchess has already met with women who have benefited from Smart Works, a charity which helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women get back into work.

The couple are said to be keeping the countryside bolthole even when they move from Harry's current Frogmore Cottage home at Kensington Palace to their new home in Windsor before the birth of their first child which is thought to be due in April.

Meghan reportedly has had not had any contact with her dad since before her wedding, when he was caught staging paparazzi photos for money.

The announcement of Meghan's official patronages comes as she prepares for a busy 2019.
