Winter Weather Advisory Begins At Noon Today In Effect Until 7 am Sunday | Newsradio 1020 KDKA

For Sunday rain will be in the forecast for most of the day with highs near 40°. There could be a few passing showers for most of us.

Northern Missouri and central IL will be hit the hardest, potentially seeing more than 8 inches of snow by Sunday, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported Friday morning.

"Snow will overspread the region Saturday into Sunday".

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of the area until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Late Saturday, Baltimore City issued a Code Blue alert, opening shelters.

Winter storm warnings have been issued for the following counties: Davie, Alamance, Surry, Forsyth, Caswell, Wilkes, Yadkin, Guilford, Stokes and Rockingham. As temperatures drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight, rain will transition into snow as we head into Monday.

A low pressure system moving in from the south will bring moisture and snow to the area by Saturday evening. It was forecast to move into the Southeast and transfer its energy to a low-pressure system along the southern Atlantic coast Sunday.

The snow has turned into rain and we'll see that continue well into your Sunday so get keep the rain gear handy! South of the Triad less than ½ inch of snow and sleet.
